Pretty, peaceful and picturesque – Cártama has everything

If you’re looking to start an inland Andalusian adventure, Cártama might just be the perfect location for you. It’s just 17km from the hustle and bustle of Malaga, yet it can sometimes feel as though it’s a million miles away from the tourist trail. It’s home to around 15,000 people, and it boasts plenty of history and heritage.

Located in the heart of the attractive Guadalhorce Valley, Cártama is built along the undulating contours of the famous Hill of the Virgin. During the summer months, it hosts a number of important, and highly enjoyable, fiestas. The local streets and plazas are extremely pretty, so be sure to do plenty of walking when you first come to explore.

It’s a fragrant town, partly because of the fresh mountain air and partly because it’s surrounded by orange and lemon groves. During hot afternoons, there is surely no greater pleasure than stopping at a pavement café for a cold drink and a bite to eat. At times like this, it’s easy to watch the world go by and reflect on how wonderful life is in this idyllic corner of southern Spain.

Just quiet enough, just lively enough

For a relatively small town, Cártama offers plenty of nightlife as well. You can take your pick from a great selection of bars and restaurants here, so if you put down roots here you’ll be pleased to know that you don’t have to go to the coast to enjoy a night on the town.

Several of the most notable buildings in Cártama illustrate the town’s rich history. The Humilladero Cross dates back to Roman times and the castle was built in the 10th century. The iconic Hermitage of Our Lady of the Remedies seems a little precariously placed on the steep slopes of the Hill of the Virgin.

The property scene in Cártama is pleasantly varied, so you’ll find just what you need here. Whether you seek a small apartment or on expansive villa, we at Simply Costa Developments can help. It only takes a moment to get in touch and to start you on the path to owning a glorious Spanish home. Just call +34 682 66 22 89 and speak to our friendly, knowledgeable experts.
